Pumpkin Picking and Fall Fun at Maryland Farms
Summer is over and all the kids are back in school, but there is still plenty going on. Fall is a great time to get out and explore your local farms!
Farms like Baugher’s Orchard and Butler’s Orchard and Farm Market, which run u-pick operations through the spring and summer, pull out the stops and have special activities in the Fall. Some traditional farms such as North Run Farm, busy with farming through the year, open their doors and throw a Fall Festival. As an end-of-season bonus, some places such as Clark Elioak’s Farm and Winterbrook Farms break out the catapults and cannons for pumpkin chucking!
- Pumpkin Picking
Head out to the field on a tractor to pick your own, or choose from a selection of pre-picked. - Corn Maze
Wander through some amazing designs, carved out of the fields with the aid of design software and a GPS receiver. Make sure to check out the areal pictures to really appreciate their beauty. Some farms stay open late for flashlight tours. - Hay Rides
Fall would not be complete without a hay ride behind a noisy tractor. A great joy for the little ones. - Halloween Fun
While some farms put up Halloween decorations, some like Huber’s Farm host Haunted Forests to get a fright out of any adult
Days of operation vary as some farms are open 7 days and others are just open during the weekend. Check out list below for details. Festivities finish up by the beginning of November, so plan your adventures before it is all over.
