Washington Conservatory of Music

The Washington Conservatory of Music was established as an independent nonprofit community music school in 1984. The Washington Conservatory was accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music Commission on Non-degree Granting Institutions in 1991. WCM is dedicated to fostering the joy of music and guiding students of all ages and all levels to reach their personal musical potential.

WCM maintains two teaching sites: at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church in Bethesda and in the South Arcade of Glen Echo Park. The site at Glen Echo Park opened in August 2009.

At WCM, students of all ages and levels may study without audition under the guidance of WCM’s international artist-faculty. Lessons are offered on piano, guitar, all strings, voice, all brass, jazz piano, improvisation, drums, percussion, conducting, and all woodwind instruments. Classes in music theory, music appreciation, group guitar, and Early Childhood music are also offered, among others. Ensembles include Jazz, Rock, Pop, World, and Classical music. WCM offers various summer music camps for children and teens.
