Storyville at Baltimore County Public Library - Woodlawn

After the community's overwhelming response to Storyville on the east side in the Rosedale Branch, a second Storyville opened to the public on March 1, 2010 at the Woodlawn Branch of BCPL.

Storyville is an interactive early literacy learning center designed specifically for children ages birth to five and their caregivers. Located in the Rosedale and Woodlawn branches of the Baltimore County Public Library, the child-sized villages include developmentally appropriate books and activities for children ages birth to five. The environments and activities in Storyville are specifically designed for caregivers to help their young children enter school ready to learn.

"I went to Storyville today with my 12 year old as well as my toddlers. They wouldn't let my 12 year old come in with us Bc she wasn't old enough to be a caregiver when I was clearly the one who was. They were very cold and uncaring. They told me she can go to the library and read. Who lets a 12 year old go alone to a library?? Very unimpressed with the employment and guidelines of Storyville. "

Very hands on

"Visited for the first time today just by chance and it turned out to be way more than I imagined. A simple Google search had me to headed to the library to find that it was an interactive attachment to the actual library. My boys loved it. They were free to roam and explore. I wasn't able to visit the baby area with my daughter but she had fun in the main areas also. Definitely will visit again soon. My oldest asked about it until he went to bed. "

Fun for kids

"Probably the best in free indoor activities for toddlers. I avoid it on certain days because its just way too much especially with a couple kids who want to go in different directions. But a really fun way to have really creative play for a few hours. "

Great for a rainy day

"They have a nonwalker baby garden, which was a lifesaver before my little one was able to participate in many other activities. Once he got older, he was able to take advantage of all of the different interactive sections. It is great because it is free--but it is starting to show some wear from use. Still, I end up there often on crummy days when my toddler needs to get out of the house!"
