Wargo Nature Center
Parents! Come play and explore with your children in our woods, prairies, and wetlands. Children can discover nature safely in Maple Hollow Nature Play Area built out of natural materials and designed with kids in mind.
Anoka County invites you to explore the Joseph E. Wargo Nature Center. The interpretive center is nestled on a beautiful peninsula overlooking George Watch Lake and is part of the 5000 acre Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve.
Wargo Nature Center is an outdoor learning center designed to be used by the entire community. Visit our beautiful visitors’ center, it is fully equipped with informational displays, dozens of animal mounts and a library full of books and periodicals at your disposal. Downstairs is the Touch and See room, home to our reptile and amphibian residents.
Near the visitors’ center you will find our wild bird feeders visited by much more than just a variety of birds. You will also see our many gardens; some to attract butterflies another to increase water quality and all are beautiful to look at. Of course here at Wargo you will always find experienced and friendly naturalists and staff to answer any of your questions.
