Bay Area Maker Faire 2018 - the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth!

San Mateo, CA fullcalendar

May 18 1pm-5pm, May 19 10am-7pm, May 20 10am-6pm

Maker Faire is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these "makers" come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. Maker Faire combines the best of Burning Man's sizzling creativity with the hottest creations of the DIY community and serves it all up in a dazzling event guaranteed to engage every member of the family. Maker Faire Bay Area runs May 18-20 at the San Mateo County Event Center and will host some 125,000 visitors as they learn from and play with over 1200+ makers, crafters, engineers, vendors, and artists who come from all over the country to exhibit their particular brand of genius. Maker Faire's geek culture flourishes with droids, DIY kits by kids for kids, and mobile land sharks roaming in the dark. None of this would be complete without rockets, bikes, food, and a huge children's area for young dreamers and makers. Immerse yourself in Maker culture with over 800 exhibits, 6+ stages, big art and spectacle, hands-on making and learning- all showcasing the creative and experimental folks who make, play, tinker and hack in areas like: Robotics, Future of Food, Cosplay, STEM & STEAM, Craft, Science, Electronics, Tools and Materials, Crazy things you've never seen and Much much more!
