Paws to Read

Wicomico Public Library, Main Library

Bring your child to the Downtown Library for our program ,  Paws to Read. This program allows your child to read aloud to a dog for 5 - 7 minutes. A volunteer will be present during the entire session. It helps build reading confidence in children while they are relaxing and having fun. This fun and popular program (successfully run at Beaver Run and Chipman Elementary Schools) is proven to lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning and it encourages the love of books in an environment full of opportunities to practice the full range of communications skills. Children must be 4-12 years old, must be accompanied by an adult, and not have any allergies to dogs. You may bring your own books or choose chapter or picture books from the library to read. Permission slips, which must be signed by parent/guardian, may be filled out the day of program or picked up at the Children's Information Desk and presented at the program. This program will be held the 1st and 3rd Sat. of each month. Free.
