Author Review: Doreen Cronin

by Monica S. (Ellicott City, MD)

I want to highlight an author I have come upon recently. Doreen Cronin is the author of some wonderful books I have read recently with my kids. She is the author of “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type” which is downright hysterical. It is a wacky story about farmyard animals, specifically an innocent seeming duck, who outsmart a dim-witted farmer. It is so clever that I laughed out loud when I read it and it continues to please after the 100 times I have read it to my kids. Doreen Cronin followed it up with another great story, called “Giggle, Giggle, Quack.” This is as good as the first one. These are truly worth looking at.

I was curious about Doreen Cronin so I spent a little time researching her. She is a former lawyer who has always had a knack for writing. After “Click, Clack, Moo” became a success, she quit her job and now writes full time. I checked out her website, She seems like a really neat lady. She has written a bunch of stories with new tangents on the clever duck from her first story. I highly, highly recommend these books to parents looking for new literature to read their kids and I give these books to all my friends.

Just this year, Doreen published her first chapter book targeting the young reader. The Trouble with Chickens: A J.J. Tully Mystery (J.J. Tully Mysteries) is the story about retired search-and-rescue, jolted out of retirement by two chicks named Dirt and Sugar and their chicken mom show up demanding his help to track down their missing siblings. My kids are on the younger side, but I look forward to engaging them with this story in a few years.

Take a moment to check out this author. She has given our house with pages of laughs and smiles that are enjoyed over and over again.
