As Idaho's official state museum of natural history, The Idaho Museum of Natural History actively nurtures an understanding of and delight in Idahos natural and cultural heritage. Guests can discover dinosaurs, ice-age mammals, volcanic hotspots, living off the land, and more. They can also experience science hands-on in our Discovery Room. Outdoor exhibits include a Tree Walk and a Natural History Garden. The Museum's Gift Shop and online E-store offer unique gift and souvenir items including Rite in the Rain waterproof notebooks. Behind the scenes, IMNH is home to over 500,000 collections in anthropology, earth science, and life sciences along with an archive of documents and ethnographic photographs. Researchers pursue scholarly study of the collections and publish their findings in outside and Museum-sponsored publications. Donations accepted to keep the Museum free for the children of Idaho.
