Great Plains Nature Center

The Great Plains Nature Center includes a 3,400 square foot exhibit hall, wildlife observatory overlooking a wetland, 2,200-gallon aquarium, 188-seat auditorium and two classrooms. The nature center adjoins and has access to Chisholm Creek Park. This 240-acre park is a wildlife area within the city limits of Wichita, Kansas. Nearly two miles of paved interpretive trails link tallgrass prairies, riparian woodlands and wetland habitats.

The Great Plains Nature Center is an educational facility in which the public may learn about the natural resources, outdoor recreation, wildlife and habitats of the Great Plains. It is a cooperative project between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the City of Wichita Department of Park and Recreation.
