USS Constellation Museum

The primary artifact and central focus of the Museum is the US Sloop-of-War Constellation, the second of the three ships to carry the same venerable name. Constellation is the last all-sail warship built for the US Navy, and one of two vessels still afloat that, prior to the Civil War, served in the US African Squadron fighting the illegal slave trade. Also, Constellation is the only ship still afloat that was active during the Civil War and is the largest example of Chesapeake Bay wooden shipbuilding in existence. Over 2000 artifacts and ephemera related to Constellation, and naval history in general, are in the Museum's care.
