Riverbend Park

Riverbend Park is a remote setting along the Potomac River. The Fairfax County Park Authority site’s visitor center is surrounded by more than 400 acres of forest, meadows and ponds. Its many trails include a 2.5 mile portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail that links national and regional parkland. Kayakers and canoeists can explore islands in the Potomac River, which provides excellent angling for smallmouth bass by jonboat or from shore. The park, famous for its bluebells, is one of the top places in the county for wildflowers and bird watching. The visitor center includes an exhibit about the Potomac River Gorge, a snack bar and a gift shop. There is a riverside picnic area and launch ramp nearby. The park’s nature center is available for rent, as is the park’s picnic shelter. Naturalists present dozens of family programs throughout the year.
